Donation for Myanmar flood victims by MCTA:RVi Academy
When disaster struck Myanmar, the MCTA:RVi Academy Mandalay Student Council quickly put together a donation campaign for essential items like water, food, medicine and other emergency supplies. At school assembly a target was set by VP Mr David J of collecting 1 million kyats in cash. So far the school has far exceeded this cash target, raising more than 5 million kyats. So many parents responded so well to our call to action it would be impossible to mention them all.
Our donated MCTA supplies will go to one of the most affected areas mostly in Chin State. Our supplies will be flown by the airlines directly to airports closest to the flooded areas. From the airports, goods will be taken by truck and helicopter to Hakha, Thantlang, Matupi and Paletwa.
The donated items from MCTA will be received by GrassRoots Empowerment and Ecosystem Nurturing (GREEN) for landslide and flood victims. They requested our help through Ms Zin Zin, and donations will be provided to ease human suffering in Hakha, Thantlang, Matupi and Paletwa. The people need food, water, mosquito netting, blankets, and other items. We will send our items by Myanmar Airways to Kalay. Sayar Anthony Cung Mang Programme Manager from GREEN Hakha said that when items are flow in by Mandalay Airways at Kalay, GREEN will collect them and bring them to Chin State.
The donated kyat we have received will be given to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). We will be finding out exactly where and how that money will be spent.
A heart-felt thanks to Mr. Santi and the student council, all of our parents, staff, students and teachers who gave of themselves to ease the suffering of Myanmar people. Hats off and hip-hip-hooray for the generosity of our effort.
